Books that are worth your while!
But first, FREE STUFF: If you want to read the books I recommend for free, check out your local library. You can obviously borrow a physical copy of the book, but there is also a service called Overdrive you need to know about!
Overdrive electronically accesses the library through an app you put on your phone. All totally free, and easy to use! You just link your library card with the app and you can do everything mobile! I listen to audio books through an app called Libby that uses the Overdrive system. Check it out!

Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin

Rating: Excellent
Topic: Financial Independence
Summary/Review: A great overview of the thought process behind the Financial Independence Retire Early movement and a source of sobering exercises! I was shocked to calculate my Real Hourly Wage and to think about all the time, energy, and money that we spend just to continue working! She lays out the overall concept of living on less, investing heavily, then having the option to not work extremely well. She also provides an easy to follow format for tracking your expenses vs your investment income and seeing exactly when you “could” technically retire. Fresh perspective despite this being the second iteration of the book.
Financial Freedom by Grant Sabatier

Rating: Excellent
Topic: Financial Independence
Summary/Review: Grant does an incredible job in this recently published book explaining not only the concept of Financial Independence overall, but actually giving you actionable steps to get there. He clearly teaches trickier concepts like investing and calculating the amount you need to retire as well as the cost of goods in time, not money. Between this book and Your Money or Your Life, you will never think about work and money the same way again! The website for the book also includes some nifty free tools and calculators!
